REMEMBER: In the mountains, even the paths that may seem seemingly trivial, can not and should not be traveled superficially.
CAI SECTION WHAT IS
The CAI (Italian Alpine Club) section was founded in 1868 and today unites more than 2000 mountain enthusiasts who deal with activities, culture and the mountain environment. CAI extends over the whole territory of the province of Florence, including the Mugello.
In addition, the CAI provides for the tracking, construction and maintenance of trails, alpine works and mountaineering equipment.
The total network of CAI paths reaches 60 thousand kilometers.
In the province of Florence there are several sections and subsections CAI that deals with the garrison of the territory and the ordinary maintenance of the itineraries (insert the horizontal signs formed by white-red signs on trees or stones, free paths, install vertical signs at intersections, warning tables for example the difficulty of the trail or routes for mountain biking or horses).
IMPORTANCE OF CAI SIGNALS
Along the CAI paths there are numerous signs. These were created to allow people to move safely in mountain places (especially for people who do not know that area) and lead the visitor to certain places along the most suitable routes.
