What is Trail del cinghiale

trail del cinghialeTrail del cinghiale (Wild boar trail ) is a semi-self-sufficiency racing race that takes place in Apennine surroundings. The competition is organized through the collaboration of: Asd Leopodistica, Asd I Boar, Asd Seniobike and Outdoor & Trekking Store Ravenna-Faenza. Trail del cinghiale arrived at its 6th edition. The organizers have estimated the participation of 500 athletes. Money prizes are not provided for the winners of the routes.

When it takes place

Trail del cinghiale take place on Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 November 2017 at Palazzuolo sul Senio. The departure for the 30 km and the 60 km is scheduled for 07:00, while for the 90 km route the departure will be at 05:00.

Required features

To Trail del cinghiale can participate and enroll all the athletes from 18 years UISP members or EPS agreement with expiring no earlier than November 26, 2017.

Additionally, participants must have a mountain racing experience and a great workout, even at temperatures between -10° C and 20° C.

The registration fee varies depending on the route you made:

  • Km 30: € 30 (+ € 5 final optional pasta-party)
  • Km 60: € 60 (including final party pasta)
  • Km 90: € 90 (including final party pasta)

The registration fee includes:

  • race pettorale
  • chip (which must be returned once you have reached the finish line. Whoever does not return the cip will have to pay a fine of € 10,00)
  • assistance and rides along the route
  • race pack and technical material
  • good meal for the after race (not included for the 30 km route)
  • showers
  • massages.

Paths

  • 30 km

The route starts from the center of Palazzuolo sul Senio (437 m.) And it leaves the village by a narrow road to the right that becomes dirt road. After 4 km the route reaches a height of +500 meters. Then proceed towards Prati Piani. In a short time, the route reaches 980 meters. Then go along paths and cobbled streets until you arrive at the church of Bibbiana (km 10). The trail also comes down a bit but returns to climb up to 800 meters. Return to Palazzuolo (km 19). The race continues on a road leading to Fontana towards the Badia of Susinana. After 3 km from the quadrivio of paths you finally arrive on arrival.

Note: The 30 km route must be completed within a maximum of 7 hours.


  • 60 km

The route starts from the center of Palazzuolo sul Senio (437 m.) And leaves the village by a narrow road to the right that becomes dirt road. After 4 km the route reaches a height of +500 meters. From here the route turns to the left of the Sinitria torrent and leads to the refreshment of Fontana Moneta (km 33). Then take the path n ° 8 right in front of the church and rise to 800 meters above Monte Toncone. Then descend towards the Sintria torrent to get to Fornazzano’s refreshment precisely at km 43 and drive along a short stretch with chain that leads to Fontanone with 4 km uphill. After a few kilometers the trail reaches the refuge of Fontanamoneta. The trail goes downhill and crosses the creek until you reach the 505th trail. After about 6 km you will return to the crossroads of trails and after not even 3 km you reach the finish line.

Note: The 60 km route must be completed within a maximum of 14 hours.

  • 90 km

The route runs along the old road of the River Senio leading to Fontana and then to Susinana Abbey. The trail continues along a right-hand crossroads to the ruins of San Michele and Corneto. After passing the crossroads of paths, the path goes down to the villa of Gruffieto where there is a refreshment (km 10). The trail starts uphill and arrives at a single track leading to the left of the Sintria stream to the refuge of Fontanamoneta (refreshment). The trail goes down and after crossing the creek lies the trail 505 (Colla-Faenza pass). After a hollow the path continues in the lawns and along cobbled paths and sandstone comes to the quadrivio. Here turn left to get to Palazzuolo (km 25).
The route begins again by tracing the ring of 30 km and 60 km. Then return to a refreshment in Palazzuolo (Km 44).
The trail repeats the first part that it was runned in the dark. Once you come back to the Gruffieto villa’s refreshment you return to the refuge of Fontanamoneta (km 60) and take a new path leading to the mountain Toncone. Upon reaching the summit you will go down to the refreshment of Fornazzano (km 70). After some climbs and downs you take a path that rises to the left and then goes down to a small waterfall equipped with chain. Then you get to Fontanone. The trail leads back to the refuge of Fontanamoneta (km 80) and take the trail 505 to the crossroads. The path goes down to Palazzuolo to reach the finish line.

Note: The 90 km route must be completed within a maximum of 21 hours. In addition, the first gate at 30 ° km must be exceeded within 7 hours, and the second, at 60 km, within 14 hours.
