Museum Ferri Taglienti

Museum Ferri TaglientiThe Museum Ferri Taglienti, inaugurated in 1999, is located within the Palazzo dei Vicari. The Museum Ferri Taglienti recounts the history of Scarperia knifes from the Middle Ages up to the present day thanks to video support, educational panels and a work desk that allows tourists to try to build knives. The Museum is developed in 5 thematic sections:

  • Footage illustrating craftsmanship of the knife
  • Italian set of knives   and production centers from the late 1800s to the present day
  • history of Scarperia knifes
  • Female blades: scissors for embroidery and tailoring
  • Social life (this section is periodically modified with reconstructions that tell about the life span of the territory)

It is also possible to visit the old Coltellinaio Workshop located just outside the Palace. This workshop has manufactured knives from the early 1900s until 1970 and belonged to the Ditta Dino Savi e Figli. Inside you can still admire all the tools and tools that the knife used to make scissors and knives. On request and at local events, you can book a demonstration to see live as knives are made.
