Where is Mugello exactly? As you can see on the map above, Mugello is located just a few miles north of Florence. The kilometers may vary depending on the municipality in which we are located.

Morphologically is bordered to the north by the Tuscan-Romagnol Apennines, to the south by Monte Giovi and Monte Senario and to the west by the Mountains of Calvana.

From the past it has been difficult to determine boundaries for this area, especially for mountain areas. Today the boundaries coincide with the most exterior points of the Mugello municipalities. The municipalities located on the Apennine ridge of the Romagna side (Marradi, Palazzuolo sul Senio and Firenzuola), as you can see from the map, are defined as municipalities of Alto Mugello.

The landscape of Mugello is characterized by a ring of mountains and hills that descend to the course of the Sieve River, the most important tributary of the Arno. On the territory there are frequent sightings of deer, roe deer, wolves, eagles, wild boars.

In the nineties, the artificial basin of Bilancino, a fundamental water resource for Florence, was built. The lake also serves to prevent disastrous events such as the flood in Florence on November 4, 1966. Bilancino is also developing from a tourist point of view. Here you can practice many activities.

Of great importance in the area is the Mugello Circuit where every year the MotoGP race is held, usually held in the first week of June.
